Accessibility x Inclusivity Continuing Education
SUNDAY JULY 28, 2019
YA CEUs: 6 contact hours
As a yoga teacher, you cue movement and breath through careful sequencing, allowing your students to find strength, empowerment, peace, and balance.
As a leader, it is an important responsibility to fully welcome and serve the needs of those who show up in the space you’ve created. Do you know what to do if a new student shows up, or if someone shows up with an injury? Do you know which words empower, or how to effectively ask permission to share space? Do you know how to modify a practice?
This accessibility and inclusivity training will tap you into the skills to be the educated, intention filled, respected teacher that yogis will seek out (and tell all their friends about).
Content for this training will be broken into four clear modules: the purpose of accessibility, connection via communication, asana modifications, and application in practice. All 6 hours of the program count as contact hours for Yoga Alliance teacher registrations. (Did you know you need 10 contact hours every three years to keep your registration valid?) This training was specifically created for yoga teachers seeking continuing education. The skill sets learned in the accessibility x inclusivity training are soft skills that can be learned and adapted by teachers of any tenure- there are no minimum training or teaching hour requirements to enroll in this session.
In this program, you’ll learn how to:
> prepare yourself to teach in any space
> effectively hold space for a group of mixed levels yogis
> empower through language - including what words to exclude from your teaching vocabulary!
> effectively 'view' bodies to see alignments
> connect to the root, to build anything from the ground up
> create variations for the main asana families
> be a progressive teacher who grows with the industry
